Nervous energy about the future ~ from Carrie
Well, it’s our first official day on the road. I’m excited. I have a nervous energy about the future. Even the next few hours of the future. We’re on the highway. Derek’s talking to me about to-do lists and meet-ups and things we need to do over the next few weeks. I’m nodding my head and responding, but there’s a weird wall that is keeping me from seeing more than an hour into our future. Because this is so incredibly uncharted. I have no frame of reference for traveling west on I-40 toward Amarillo, headed to Santa Fe, NM for a stop on our book tour. What does that look like? I have no idea. I can hear Amelie breathing in her car seat as she sleeps. Derek is directly to my left in the driver’s seat. And I can see our travel trailer, Sherman, in my mirror. This is my world. Which is a funny thought because we’re about to expand our horizons 100-fold on this trip. We’ll see things we’ve never seen before and have once-in-a-lifetime experiences. But the only things that feel real for me are Derek, Amelie and our “home.” Everything else feels far away. But I know it’s coming. And that’s where the nervous energy comes from.
We’re so glad you’re joining us on this journey. We’re excited to meet, interact with or just hang out with you on our blog. It’s such a special time in our lives, and I know all of our encounters along the way will be special because of it. Thanks for being here.
“I”m looking forward to being surprised by something I’m not expecting.” – Derek.
